A dream. A passion. A lifestyle.
The Garage is the evolution of my experience with the bike and its culture. After riding, wrenching, tweaking, selling, dreaming, researching, and talking bikes for the last 15 years, 2012 marks the year in which I embark on the next step and open Helena’s first service based Bike shop. The Garage is an extension of my lifestyle, and just like the Gravity Guild that I started three years ago, is an open invitation to take part in what I do. I see the Garage as the “anti bike shop” this isn’t a retail experience that has been designed by large companies and merchandising gurus that so many bike shops are turning to with the “concept” store idea. Rather, the Garage is a place to find culture: bikes, mechanics, music, a cold beer, some good conversation, art work, the replacement part to keep your old rig going, or the knowledge to get you set up on that custom build that you have been dreaming about. It’s a fresh look at the bike shop, with a hint of that bike shop from 20 years ago.
I came up with the name “The Garage” because that is where my personal shop was set up at my house. It was a much smaller version of the new shop, with all the same features: the wrenching, the lounge, the bikes, the music, the atmosphere, the friends. We all referred to my garage as “The Garage” and for me the name stuck.
Did i mention the fact that we are a service based shop? Our main focus is wrenching on bikes and we are sure that our work will prove that point. We guarantee all our repair work. Period. Stop down, and the difference will be apparent in the first 5 feet of the shop. Check back in right here, at the Garage Blog, for up to date info on events and happenings with the Shop and Helena area cycling culture.
See you at The Garage,
Steve
