Last Thursday night was the first meeting of the Gravity Guild for the 2012 season. We had about 20 individuals, a variety of tasty beverages, and some great discussion about the up coming season.
This is the start of the Gravity Guilds fourth year! Seems like just yesterday I was forming this Idea. That’s Freakin crazy! For those of you new to The Garage (that should be all of you, i’ve only just started) or to the Gravity Guild, the club started as an extension and open invite for like minded Helenan’s to join me and take part in what I like to do. What is that you say? Well you can of course check out the Gravity Guild page on this web site, but in short, we ride bikes, we build trail, we maintain current trails, we race bikes and put on events, and we support the cycling community any way we can. It does have a bit of a gravity (hence the name) preference. But don’t think for one second that we don’t ride our bikes up hill, because we do. Most of us just go up to go back down. Plus gravity has a huge effect on all aspects of cycling. All are welcome, doesn’t mater what bike you own, how you like to ride, or even if you just want to help out.
Back to the meeting… The main topic of the night was to get our events for the 2012 season nailed down. We also had some good input from one of our head trail builders – Emmett Purcell on some new trail potentials. Next meeting will stem from Emmett’s trail building ideas, so stay tuned here and on the Gravity Guild Facebook page for more info.
For 2012 we are planing on seven events! thats a pretty darn full plate, and we have some new event ideas that will come to fruition.

If you are interested in being more involved, such as being a group ride leader, putting on an event or even just putting your input into a meeting just let me know. Big thanks to Papu and FourOsix for hosting the meeting and his constant support to the Guild. And to all that showed up, this wouldn’t be possible with out you. It would just be me sitting in my living room, drinking a beer, and dreaming. Thanks for making those dreams a reality.
Steve.
