I had an idea, a vision really, of the perfect shop. It wasn’t drawn up by an architect or a designed by a professional merchandiser, that would be nice but out of my budget, and just wouldn’t have my soul in it. I envisioned: custom work benches, a bar you can pony up to and watch what happens to your bike (or some one else’s) while enjoying a beverage and some good music. An interactive invironment where it is fun to look around and you will see something new every time you walk in. A lounge that you never want to leave, that reminds you of your own living room. All in all its exactly how I would build and set up a bike shop and know I get to do just that!
Then the reality of my idea… its a lot of freakin work! I’ve been working my ass off for the last couple months trying to make The Garage meet my vision of that perfect shop. After hours of planning, demo, construction, finish work, and mess ups (a lot of mess ups… i’m way better at working on bikes than fabricating things out of wood) something is starting to emerge. and its not what i expected….its better! With the help from my Wife, my friends, my family and numerous late nights, something very unique is taking form. its not done yet, and many more hours of work are smiling down on me, but I think everyone will really like the direction things are going. I’ve put up a few photos to show some of the progress but not all has been reveled, that will have to wait until the grand opening. Which is right around the corner… Friday Febuary 3rd.
That just might need its own paragraph (and here it is)! So, Grand opening, I’m going to keep on busting and get this place opened up for every one to enjoy. and Im going to get’er done by February 3rd. It will be held at The Garage of course, and it will go all day long. We will have the doors open at 10 am and go till people don’t feel like having fun any more…if you read the last post will have noted that the first Gravity Guild event is scheduled for the same night (well that is on purpose of course) the first Underground Alley Cat race will start and finish at The Garage that evening (more info to follow in its own post, hell this whole night needs its own post.)
So enjoy some photos of the space. I’m almost always there so if you want to see it in person stop on by, and I hope to see everyone at the Grand opening.
